Relational Issues & Sex Therapy
Clients sometimes come to therapy to address a specific sexual issue like vaginismus, erectile dysfunction, or a mismatch in desire and somehow we find ourselves instead talking about early childhood experiences or boundaries at work. How is all this related to sex and other relational issues? From a systems theory approach, EVERYTHING has the potential to impact our ability to be in relationships including our sex lives.
We need to take a close look at those who we first built relationships with (our parents and caregivers). Intimacy is a broad term that can apply to your relationship with yourself, your partner, friends, or even family. Intimacy can be emotional, sexual, and spiritual.
In sex therapy we will also identify what is impacting your ability to enjoy sex (you may be surprised to find out what it is). You will develop a sexual relationship with yourself and gain confidence to share your sexuality with another.

With sex therapy and other relational, there is no standard prescribed treatment of exercises. Instead, I take the time to truly understand who you are, what influenced who you've become, and what are your unique needs.
